Wolf of the Plains (Conqueror , book 1) by Conn Iggulden

I ordered this book for a friend to read and he is currently starting the third book himself. Left behind without resources when the tribe migrates, the family struggles to survive the harsh environment, and Temujin dreams of gathering similar outcasts—wanderers and herdsmen—into a new tribe.

Perhaps crucially, he also loved poetry and cracking good tales. Wish I could find more authors who research their subject matter as well as Mr. As his fame spreads, Temujin launches an ambitious campaign to unite lf Mongol tribes “after a thousand years of warfare” into a single people, defeat the Tartars and invade China.

The remaining three books in the series promise more enjoyable reading. The biggest achievement here, however, is how he conveys the effectiveness of Ghengis’ military might.
